About the teachers:
David and Gemma have been running Neo Yoga Delft, their yoga studio in Delft, since 2011. Both have over 10 years of teaching experience. We have a practical and down-to-earth approach to yoga, where we aim to teach our classes with humor and an open mind. Due to our enthusiasm, we enjoy organizing various activities alongside yoga classes, such as workshops and retreats. During this Silent Retreat, David will be leading the Hatha yoga classes, while Gemma will guide a Yoga Nidra session and a Yin yoga class.

Hi I am Sofie. I am here for the psychological and spiritual support if needed during the Silent Retreat.

Yoga Nidra: Deep Relaxation and Inner Transformation

Welcome to our retreat, where we invite you to embark on a transformative journey through the practice of Yoga Nidra. In the midst of our hectic lives, finding moments of deep relaxation and inner stillness can be challenging. However, with Yoga Nidra, you can tap into a profound state of relaxation, rejuvenation, and self-discovery.

Yoga Nidra, often referred to as “yogic sleep,” is a systematic guided meditation that takes you into a state of deep relaxation while remaining fully awake and aware. It allows you to enter the realm between wakefulness and sleep, where profound healing and transformation can occur. In this state, the mind becomes highly receptive, enabling you to access the subconscious layers of your being.

During a Yoga Nidra session you will lie comfortably on your yoga mat. Gemma will guide you through a series of gentle instructions, leading you into a state of deep relaxation. You will be encouraged to let go of physical tension, mental stress, and emotional burdens, allowing yourself to surrender to the present moment.

As the practice unfolds, you will explore different layers of your consciousness, including the physical body, breath, emotions, thoughts, and beliefs. Through guided imagery and visualization, you will journey within, discovering the hidden realms of your subconscious mind. This profound exploration can help you release deep-rooted patterns, fears, and limiting beliefs that may be holding you back in life.

Yoga Nidra is not only a practice of deep relaxation but also a powerful tool for self-transformation. Regular practice can help reduce stress, anxiety, and insomnia. It can enhance creativity, intuition, and clarity of mind. By accessing the subconscious mind, you can reprogram old patterns, manifest positive intentions, and cultivate a deep sense of inner peace and well-being.

Embrace the stillness, embrace the silence, the perfect kickstart for the rest of the weekend.

Hatha yoga: Nurturing Your Body and Mind

Hatha Yoga, with its emphasis on postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques, provides a accessible approach to yoga practice. During the Hatha Yoga sessions, you will be guided through a series of gentle movements and postures with mindful breathing, allowing you to release tension, improve flexibility, and cultivate a sense of calmness.

Hatha Yoga is the union of two powerful energies: “Ha” representing the sun and “Tha” symbolizing the moon. Through the practice of Hatha Yoga, we seek to harmonize these opposing forces within ourselves, bringing balance and unity to our entire being.

During the Hatha Yoga sessions with David, we will explore a diverse range of asanas (postures) that cater to practitioners of all levels. Whether you are new to yoga or have an established practice, he provides a safe and nurturing space for you to unwind, restore, and recharge. Allow the gentle movements, soothing breathwork, and moments of stillness to guide you towards a state of deep relaxation and inner balance.

Yin yoga: Deep Relaxation and Inner Release

In the midst of our fast-paced lives, Yin Yoga offers a gentle and nourishing approach that allows you to slow down, release tension, and find deep relaxation.

Yin Yoga focuses on long-held passive poses that target the deep connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. By gently stretching these tissues, we stimulate the flow of energy and enhance flexibility while cultivating a sense of calmness and introspection.

During our Yin Yoga sessions, you will be guided to relax into each posture, finding your edge and allowing the body to soften and release tension. These poses are held for an extended period, typically ranging from two to five minutes or more, enabling a deep opening and surrendering to the present moment.

As you settle into each pose, you will be encouraged to observe any sensations, emotions, or thoughts that arise without judgment or attachment. Yin Yoga provides a space for self-inquiry and introspection, allowing you to explore the layers of your being and cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness.

Whether you are new to the practice of Yin Yoga or have been exploring it for some time, this class will invite you to unwind, restore, and reconnect with yourself on a deeper level. Embrace the opportunity to release physical and mental tension, nourish your body, and find inner stillness.
